Triangular Island Goddess of Tin Hau Shrine

As Hong Kong’s only floating boat temple once upon a time, the Triangular Island Goddess of Tin Hau Shrine was initially located at sea for the convenience of worshippers who were mostly seafarers, who looked to the goddess of the sea Tin Hau for protection. For almost seven decades since 1955, the temple was anchored in the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter before a recent relocation on land. The newly unveiled structure, now next to the Tung Lo Wan Fire Station, references the original temple with a boat-shaped design and green flooring that mimics softly lapping waves.
